Air France still does not want bluetooth in cabi
Technology: Air France recalls that the use of wireless bluetooth headsets is prohibited in its aircraft. A measure in place for a long time, which limits the risk of interference on equipment in flight.
No bluetooth on Air France planes: the airline has reaffirmed its rules regarding the protocol faced with the questions of a journalist from Europe 1. And the company's policy is without appeal: bluetooth headsets and equipment are completely forbidden within the company's aircraft, from take-off to landing. This prohibition is there to limit the risk of interference with the equipment on board.
At a time when bluetooth accessories are more numerous, including headphones, the call to order is not useless. Air France is not the only airline to ban the use of Bluetooth on board its aircraft. Other companies, such as Air Canada, do the same. Some of them allow their use only in flight, above 10,000 feet, but prohibit their use at takeoff and landing.
But the company insisted that the ban had nothing to do with the recent bluetooth blast case. These incidents do not have much to do with the bluetooth technology itself, but rather with the use of battery li-on to power bluetooth devices. This prohibition is not limited to Bluetooth headsets alone but concerns all equipment using this technology.
As stated in Europe 1, these restrictions may change in the future, as new aircraft incorporate equipment and architectures to provide access to a WiFi point in aircraft, using an anti-interference box. But in the meantime, better to opt for a wired headset for long trips and departures on vacation.
